Great weekend for Team Ireland


Congratulations to all Team Ireland Master Athletes who competed at British & Irish Masters CC Champs in Tollcross Park, Glasgow last weekend. We had 2 overall race winners with Teresa Doherty F45 leading the Master Women home & Declan Toal M50 winning race 3. To summarise we had 4 Women Winners with Teresa F45, Dympna Ryan F40, Annette Kealy F55 & Pauline Moran F65. Joe Gough M70 was the first ind Gold medalist of the day.


Other individual medalists were: 2nd Aileen Arthur’s F35, 2nd Natasha Adam’s F45, 3rd Mari Johnston F55, 2nd Niamh O’Sullivan F60, 2nd Margaret Glavey & 3rd Eileen Kenny F70 plus 3rd June Comiskey F75. Women won Gold in 4 of the 8 races, F40, 45, 55 & 70 with 3 of the other teams winning silver. As a result of this Women retained the overall Team title with a 3 point margin over England.


Individual male medalists, Declan & Joe already mentioned as Gold medalists, with Ciaran McGonagle M45 3rd, & Pauric McKinney M55 2nd. Team silvers, M35, 45 & 75. Team bronze, M40, 50, 55, 60 & 70. Men’s team finished 3rd overall behind hosts Scotland . England won overall Team competition with 72points, Ireland 2nd 63 points & Scotland 3rd just 1 point behind.
