Congratulations to Annette Quaid F45 of Leevale A.C. who was named Master Athlete of the Year at AAI Gala Awards last Wed 22nd Nov. This caps a great year for Annette who won individual double Gold over 400 m & 800m plus silver 200m at World Masters Champs in Torun in March. She then won Ind Gold over 400m at European Masters In Pescara plus double gold in Mixed 400m & Women’s 4x 400m relays. At the start of the year, she ran 57.22 over 400m at AAI Indoor Games to set a European Masters F45 record. Annette beat off stiff competition from 2 other nominees, Edel Maguire, Clonliffe Hrs & previous 2 time Master winner, Joe Gough, West Waterford A.C.
A special mention also to Ann Maguire, St Anne’s, Belfast who was presented with Tadgh Lynch trophy for 2023 by IMAA President, George Maybury in recognition of her services to Masters Athletics. Both winners are very worthy recipients of their respective awards.
Congratulations also to Master Athletes, Eoin Everard & Brian Maher both of KCH who contributed hugely to their club claiming their first ever Senior CC title in Gowran last Sunday, beating North Belfast Hrs on countback and defending champions Clonliffe Hrs, who finished a further 8 pts adrift.
A slight pause now as the year draws to a close, but Athletes will remain focussed on 123.ie AAI Masters Indoor Champs which will take place in AIT Athlone, Sat 13th Jan. 2024 Entries should open shortly, so please keep an eye open on AAI website.
George Maybury,
President IMAA
