Belated Happy New Year to all Master Athletes, already a busy start to 2025 with 2 European Indoor records (subject to ratification). Edel Maguire (Clonliffe Hrs), W65 400m clocked a time of 1.08:83 plus Adina Gheorghiu (DSD) in the W50 60m (8.09 - Adina currently runs for Romania so not an Irish Record). Congrats to both Athletes who posted these times at recent Indoor meet in Abbottstown.
Ronan Gately is also busy pulling Irish Teams together to challenge for a number of Indoor 4x800m World Records on 12th Feb and 4x400m World Records on 26th Feb (both races will take place at 5.30pm in Abbottstown as part of Athletics Ireland Track and Field Live Meets - kindly facilitated by Dave Matthews) with strong squads already assembled - 4x800m: W40, W45, W65, W70 & M80; 4x400m: M45, M80, W60, W65, W70 & W75.
Looking further afield, WMA entries for Florida closed on Sun 26th with 41 Irish Athletes now registered. With 2025 IMAA membership aligned to calendar year, it is important that all those registered are fully paid up members, to ensure that your entry is validated by International Sec, Pat O’Grady. Also any Athlete requiring official approved Joma gear, then please check on the link below & allow adequate time to ensure that delivered on time;
We are pleased to announce that Lucy Moore Fox will once again host a seminar on Fri 28th Feb @ 7pm, courtesy of Weightlifting Ireland. This is an ideal opportunity to tune in & educate as to the pitfalls on any prescribed medication plus also, more crucially, what supplements should be avoided or are safe to use. We have had Testers attend at AAI Masters Indoor Champs over the past 2-3 years in Athlone, so it is vital that all Athletes are fully up to date with latest WADA rules. Remember, ignorance of the rules will not be a valid excuse. The onus is on you the Athlete, to be fully compliant if taking any medication & obtain TUE if necessary.
